The Project

Every life lived by a human being equals a journey, a journey of a hero. If undertaken consciously, every journey can represent aspects of one’s life - visible and real. Travelling not only changes a human being, it also changes the world. The high German word ‘risan’ means, just like the English verb ‘to rise’ “to move from below to above”, “to rise”. A journey is a departure and also a beginning to something new.

My intention to circumnavigate the world with a sailing yacht is one way to engage in life. From beginning was certain: the outer journey will be accompanied by an inner journey. External goals help me to consciously perceive and live out the inner journey. Circumnavigating the globe offers herby two advantages:

1. Many thousand points of planning, decisions and encounters result in a wonderful friction surface for hidden fears and hopes. To bring those to the surface and to transform them is an essential condition for my inner peace.

2. Like every journey, especially life’s journey, the project can be divided into three phases: Departure with separation, maturing by examinations as well as return. As the project has a duration of several years, there will be enough time for each phase, enough time to travel consciously, to reflect events and to draw parallels to one’s owns life and to digest.

The description of my circumnavigation is therefore a description of my quest for inner peace.
